I’ve randomly chosen a recent advertisement placed here:
http://www.exchangeandmart.co.uk/iad/bap/object?emcode=7554472&sid=3cbT6fTEu757853&pos=18&tot=220
If I am interested in buying the described cottage I’ll probably write such a letter:

Dear Sir,

I am writing in connection with your advertisement of selling a cottage. Your offer seems to be pretty interesting, but before making a decision whether to buy the cottage or not I need some additional information about it.

Firstly, I am interested in finding out the exact size of the cottage and the number of rooms in it. Further, I would like to know if it is provided with modern conveniences, especially electricity and telephone, and if it is not – if there is an opportunity to connect to electricity and telephone lines. I also want to inquire if water and sewer system is installed.

As I can poorly imagine the exact location of the Scone city, I would be grateful if you could tell me how far it is situated from the nearest administrative center. I also would like to know if the roads nearby are in satisfactory condition.

I would appreciate it if you could inform me about all the aforementioned details as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely,
M. K.

Dear Mr.Green ,

I am writing in connection with a faulty appliance which I recently bought from your store. I purchased a vacuum cleaner Philips GH 707 from you on 15th October at a cost of 500 dollars. The vacuum cleaner has proved to be defective.
I have complained on a number of occasions, but you have failed to solve the problems.

The legislation surrounding the Sales of Goods Act 1979 , says that goods should be of satisfactory quality and fit for their purpose. The goods clearly do not meet either of these requirements as you have been unable to rectify the problems within a reasonable period of time.

You are therefore in breach of your contract with me, and therefore I am writing to advise you that I am rejecting these goods and wish to claim a full refund.
I look forward to receiving a full refund within the next fourteen days, or I shall be forced to take the matter further.

Yours faithfully,
J.M.

Restaurant 'Romantica' is the best place you can meet your friend and spend a nice evening in a good company. The place is designed to ensure lots of privacy. Comfortable armchairs and quiet soothing music in the background make the place perfect for those tired of everyday rush. Discreet service is our first priority. Our menu is created by people who worked for the best restaurants in the world. Great choice of vegetarian dishes. Come and enjoy! Satisfaction guaranteed!

Dear Mrs Talker,

I am writing to inform you that I was very disappointed with my visit to your restaurant two days ago. I read your advertisement in the newspaper and decided to spend an evening there with my friend. Unfortunately, I have a couple of complaints concerning this visit.

According to your advertisement the place is perfect for having private conversations in relaxing atmosphere. However, it turned out that the music was so loud that I could hardly concentrate on the chat with my friend. The waiter asked to turn the music down shrugged his shoulders and said that other guests liked it that way. Is that what you mean by 'discreet service'?

To make matters worse, the place was crowded and waiting for an ordered meal was intolerably long. I must admit that the cuisine was quite good but the prices were way too high.

I would like you to take my points under consideration and I expect a refund from your restaurant. I trust you will give this matter immediate attention. I look forward to receiving a reply from you.

Yours sincerely,
K.D.

Dear Mr. Cohen,

I have some complaints about the latest movie of your's "Ali G Indahouse" which I recently seen in my local cinema. According to the advertisement in the movie trailer it is a hilarious and fascinating piece of comedy art. However, there were nothing more but banalities and obscene language what i personally find extremely outrageous. To make matters worse, there were no special warning for children under 18.

In your movie you make fun of the queen and the parliament, you outrage foundations of british culture. I consider it to be the barefaced impudence.

In this case I think i can ask you to make public apologies,
otherwise I will have to sue you as far as I am a patriot of my country. And I believe that the legislation will be on my side.

I would like you to take my letter into consideration and look forward to hear your apologies in the near future.

Yours sincerely,
Sarah Shekelgruber

Dear Mr. Alekseev,
Thank you very much for your letter of 9th September, from which I learn that you are soon finishing your book and that it will be published in the near future. I hope you will not forget me and be so kind as to present me with an edition.
I wish to make use of this opportunity and ask you to send me a copy of International law in use, No. 10, 2006. Dr. Mamontov has published in this journal a paper which is of great interest to me. If this journal is not available I would kindly ask you to inquire whether Dr. Mamontov happens to have a spare copy of this publication and whether he would be willing to supply me with one.

Dear Sir,

We would like to offer you our sincere apologies on behalf of the Perfect Gift Company for the inconvenience caused and are ready to take full responsibility for this regrettable error.
That was a complete fault on our part in the confusion caused by misunderstanding between the PG Company and our suppliers which had provided us with the wrong stuff, so we had to wait for the next delivery from them.
We are aware that there could be no satisfactory explanation for that unacceptably long delay in the delivery of your camera, but we will do our utmost to rectify the situation.
You could be more than sure that your camera will be sent Express Delivery tomorrow. We would also appreciate if you could accept a complimentary free carry case and 3 films as compensation from the PG Company and remain our good customer for the future.

Yours sincerely,
K.S.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the mark that I received for my class project. I know you made it clear that individuals in each group would all receive the same marks; but I am asking you to reconsider your decision about my mark.
I put a lot of effort into this project. I spent numerous hours in the library and at the computer working on my research. My project partner, Anton, apparently did not approach the project with the same dedication as I. Enclosed, you will find copies of my notes and sources that I used in my research.
You encouraged us to speak with you if we encountered any problems within our groups, and I made two appointments with you to discuss the situation. Unfortunately, you were unable to attend either one. Considering that I did attempt to contact you, and that I put a lot of effort into this project, I hope that you will be generous enough to raise my project mark.

Yours faithfully,
S.M.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the china figure which I oredered three weeks ago . I believe your advertisement was totally inaccurate in a number of ways.

Firstly, the figure was cracked and it wasn't the colour I oredered.

Furthermore, the message engraved on the gold plaque was completely wrong , it was even addressed to a different person.

Also it took your company 3 weeks to deliver it, although the advertisement said that it would be delivered in 10 days.

As you can imagine, I am extremely upset. I insist that this matter be dealt with promptly and I get my money back.

Yours sincerely

Hi!

I am writing you one on behalf of the Youth Development Foundation of Belarus on the matter of cooperation between YDFs in Belarus and France.

At the beginning of October there was a meeting of the board and stuff members of the Belarusian YDF. At the meeting we discussed the prospects of partnership between YDPs in our countries. Everyone thought that this cooperation has a great potential and there is much we can learn from each other.

To better understand how we should start and in which direction to move, we need to find out more about each other, about the types of programs and projects that are carried out, the main objectives and goals that we are working to accomplish. Therefore, if you find it possible, we would like to invite you to come to Belarus to visit our Youth Development Foundation and talk more specifically about the future plans.

Thank you for taking your time!

Warm regards and greetings from Belarus,

P. S.

Dear, Mr. Stein,

I am writing to ask, if I might be allowed to visit your conference " Law - Theory in practice",
which will be held on October 10, 2006 in St. Monica Palace.

Ever since I graduated law college last year and started working full time in "Dogherty and partners" law office,
I found myself bogged down in understanding and applying law. It seemed to be easy, while in college, but
now I realized that knowledge of theory is not enough. Your publications helped me to gain a better insight
about real law so much. Presence at this coference will help me grasp a little more in jurisprudence. It is very imoptant for me.

As I am a student, I am extremly short of money and this is the main reason why am I writing you. The pretty penny in 100$ per ticket is simply impossible for me
to spend, but I long to visit your conferece. I brought myself to ask you to provide me a ticket at the price of 50$, hoping you will understand my matter.

I hope that you forgive me for taking up your valuable time. I would be glad to receive any response from you on this matter.

Yours sicerely,
J.R.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to complain about the poor quality of service I recently received from your company. I want to tell you how angry and disgusted I am with a package holiday to Spain I went on.

According to your brochure I was supposed to be met by your courier at the airport in Madrid, but I was not. You lied when you said there would be a transfer from the destination airport to the holiday accommodation. And the taxi cost about 40 euros.

As if this were not enough, when I finally arrived at the hotel I found that they had not finished building it. I could not sleep because the workmen were working all night. You said that there would be a free use of hotel facilities such as swimming-pools, gyms and tennis courts. Perhaps they were free but they had not been built by that time.

On the top of everything I was not provided with an English speaking guide during my tour around Madrid. It was a complete disaster. Fortunately there was another tourist who kindly agreed to translate me everything.

You can imagine how disappointed I am to have wasted time and money, and I feel that your travel agency is directly to blame. I am writing to request an immediate refund at once, or I shall be forced to take the matter further.

I look forward to receiving your prompt reply.

Yours faithfully,

V B

Dear M.,

I am writing to your office because, as a matter of fact, in this letter I am addressing you not as an old friend and classmate but as a respected and reliable layer and I am in need of your consultation and assistance.

As you know, I had been looking for a good option to invest the certain amount of money I came into possession after selling the shares of the VNC Co. After long deliberations I decided to accept a capital investment offer of a construction firm to take part in its new project concerning the building of a business centre in Manchester.

The conditions of the deal were the following: the initial investors (15 members) were to make the money transaction on a certain bank account in 3 parts by the specified date within six month. Afterwards the company was obliged to accomplish the repayments and the payments of interest which were stipulated to come to 25% by the end of the year.

As the deal was concerning quite a considerable amount of money I checked all the required documents, essential information on the firm and conducted meetings with the financial manager of the firm as well as with its bank representative. I must admit that I was totally contented with the results of the meetings and the information I obtained. Thus, I was sure that I took part in not only a remarkably profitable business, but also in a very reliable one.

At the moment, I am extremely upset to consider that all facts stand for the conclusion that I and all the other investors were swindled. Two months have passed since the time mentioned in the contract as the date of the definitive repayments but in fact no transactions have been made by the moment. Moreover, a week ago it was found out that the firm declared its total bankruptcy. As you can imagine, I am quite worried about the situation. I feel I am entitled to a refund in full measures in addition to the compensation of moral damage. I suppose that it will be unavoidable to take the matter of the investors’ demand further to the court. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and agree to represent the party of the investors in the court or, if you are busy at the moment, to recommend me a good and reliable lawyer.

I would be grateful to you if you could manage to reply as soon as possible because it is essentially important.

Thank you very much!

Yours sincerely,
E.K.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the china figure I bought from your company on 17th November. I believe your advertisement was misleading in a number of ways.

First and foremost, the China figure was by no means the perfect gift. It was cracked and looked quite unpretentious. Also, there was a lot of dust and the colours were tarnished. “A wooden stand” was made of plastic and “a gold plaque” appeared to be a simple patch.

Furthermore, the most terrible mistake was made by your employees while engraving the message on the stand of the figure. I was completely frustrated to read the inscription “To Ali with Compassion” in gold letters instead of my chosen message “From Alina with Passion”. I should mention that this fatal flaw was quite dangerous for my personal relationship and could have caused misunderstanding.

To make matters worse, your delivering service failed to operate in a sufficient way. My purchase was delivered in 3 weeks in contrast to the “deliver within 10 days” you advertised. Consequently, I felt I was completely dissatisfied with the poor quality of the China figure and returned it back to your company.

As you can imagine, I am quite disappointed. I feel I am entitled to a full refund in addition to an apology for the annoyance and discomfort I suffered. I would appreciate it if you could consider the possibility of my private reimbursement as soon as possible and look forward to receiving a prompt reply.

Yours faithfully,

A.T.

Dear sir,

I am writing to inform you that I was very disappointed with the trade company you had recommended me.

You said this firm is the best one. And what do you think I have had as a result?

"Albert Lee Appliance" sold me a Maytag Microwave oven, specifically not the damaged display model. They delivered a damaged one, then replaced it with another damaged one. I asked for two weeks to replace it. It hasn't happened. I am waiting for 6 weeks.

I would like you to take my points under consideration as a representative of trade consulting.
I also would like to inform you that you will also refund me money and time I had lost.
I would like you to connect me in no time to solve the problem.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to inform you and complain that I was very disappointed with my visit to your sports and relaxation center two days ago. I read your advertisement in the newspaper and decided to spend a day there with my friend. I strongly believe your advertisement is considered to be misleading in a number of ways.

Firstly, according to your announcement the place is perfect for having private retirement in relaxing atmosphere. However, it turned out that the music was so loud that I could hardly concentrate on my mind and was disturbed enough. When I asked to turn the music down one of the stuff representatives shrugged his shoulders and said that other guests liked it that way. Is that what you mean by “discreet service”?

To make matters worse, the place was crowded and waiting for my turn to the swimming pool was intolerably long. I must admit that the environment was quite good and the infrastructure was set up in a quite proper and moderate way but the prices were too high. Consequently, I felt I could not stay any longer and returned home after already an hour.

Dear Sir,
I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfacton whith the holiday toure you have sold me. I bielieve your advertisement was totally inaccurate in a number of ways.
Firstly, I ordered a busyness-class ticket, but didn't recieved it.
Furthermore the suit was ordered not in the 3 stars hotel but in some kind of a bungalo.
Also I had to pay for all the excursions during my stay there and had some problems with the return ticket.
As you can imagine I am extremely upset. I insist on the partial refund in addition to an apology.
